Före detta Guns N’ Roses gitarrist Izzy Stradlin har gett ut följande uttalande angående bandets induktion till Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame som äger rum imorgon, torsdagen den 14 april.
”I have waited up to this point to see what would become of the GN’R induction into Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I would like to say THANK YOU and GRACIAS to Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for the acknowledgement of our works over the years as a band. BIG THANKS to all my bandmates who helped get us to where we are today. And, of course, THANK YOU to all of the people on this planet (including, but not limited to, the entire universe and beyond, etc., etc., etc.) who have supported Guns N’ Roses from day one. Adios, Amigos!”
Som vi nämnt i en tidigare nyhet så kommer inte Axl Rose att deltaga i bandets induktion till Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Han postade ett öppet brev på bandets Facebook sida:
”I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N’ Roses to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia and please know that no one is authorized nor may anyone be permitted to accept any induction for me or speak on my behalf. Neither former members, label representatives nor the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame should imply whether directly, indirectly or by omission that I am included in any purported induction of ’Guns N’ Roses.’”
Mycket tyder på att brevet har satt den sista spiken i kistan för fans förhoppningar om att få se Guns N’ Roses i original uppsättning under ceremonin. Spekulationer kring detta har funnits ända sedan nyheten om induktionen kom ut december 2011.
Stradlin kommer inte heller att delta, Slash, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler and Matt Sorum kommer däremot finnas på plats. Tillsammans med Guns N’ Roses kommer även Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beastie Boys, Donovan, The Faces och Laura Nyro få en plats i årets Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
