Under lördagsmorgonen kom nyheten om att Foo Fighters trummis Taylor Hawkins avlidit under en turné i Sydamerika.
Nyheten spreds snabbt runt om i rockvärlden, och hyllningarna och minnesorden började strömma in.
Gene Simmons skriver på Twitter att han är ”shocked and saddened to hear Taylor Hawkins has passed away. Our prayers and condolences go out to the Hawkins family, Foo Fighters friends and fans. Sad”.
Tom Morrello skriver även han på Twitter.
God bless you Taylor Hawkins. I loved your spirit and your unstoppable rock power. Rest in peace my friend”
En annan trummis, Travis Barker, skriver ett långt inlägg på Instagram. ”I don’t have the words. Sad to write this or to never see you again” följt av anekdoter från deras långa vänskap.
Hawkins började spela trummor så tidigt som vid tio års ålder. Innan Foo Fighters spelade han med både Sass Hordans bluesrockband, men också Alanis Morissette. 1997 lämnade William Goldsmith Foo Fighters och de behövde en inhoppare. Dave Grohl, bandets frontman, var bekant med Taylor Hawkins sedan innan och så började en 25 år lång resa med bandet.
Konsertarrangören Live Nation skriver i ett inlägg på Twitter att ”We lost one of rock music’s greatest drummers. Our hearts go out to his family, the band, and fans around the world as we all mourn this heartbreaking loss. RIP Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins.
